Who can teach English online?
A few notes before listing the best English teaching jobs online. Almost all companies will require the following:
Native speaker of English, or near speaker of native English
Solid internet connection, microphone, webcam and quiet space for classes.
You have a university degree or you are currently enrolled (in some cases this is not mandatory)
A TEFL certificate (in some cases this is not mandatory)
You are from Canada or the United States (in some cases, all countries with English in the first language)
You are enthusiastic, passionate and positive.
These are the basic requirements for teaching English online, and I will list some more specific requirements for each company below.
It makes sense that you should be able to speak English at the native level and have a strong Internet connection (if you do not, why would students register with you?), But I really do not think that having a university degree in any subject should be a requirement to teach English online or in the country. But hey, those are the rules.
In most cases, no previous experience is required, but it is useful if you have worked with younger children in the past and have taken a TEFL course, which will give you an adequate understanding of the lesson plans and how to direct a class.
Also, if you have a TEFL certificate, are a native English speaker, have a good Internet connection and are enthusiastic, your chances of being accepted for work will be much higher. Some of the companies below do not require a university degree or a TEFL certificate.
Teaching English online is not only an excellent job for digital nomads and remote workers, but it is also an excellent job for stay-at-home moms (or dads!) And retired people who do not want to do anything now. races are finished.
